Kanaka Giri – Abode of Lord Kanakachalapati

Kanakagiri is a place of both historical and religious interests. It is remote village located in the interior parts of Norhtern Karnataka. Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimha resides here in form of an abstract Shaligrama Stone. He is called Kanakachalapati or Kanakachala Lakshmi Narasimha. According to the local history it is said that a sage called Poojya Pada lived in this village in ancient days. He, through his miraculous powers turned a mountain into Gold. Thus the mountain was named Kanakagiri, (golden mountain). Kanaka means Gold and Giri is mountain in Sanskrit.

This place was ruled by Palegars (feudatory of Vijaya Nagara Empire) of Kanakagiri. They constructed this massive structured temple for the self manifested God Sri Lakshmi Narasimha.

I am not going to describe the significance of this place here. I had taken so many pictures of this place around few years ago. Just posting those pictures here. That is it. Read more here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanakagiri
